Kaş & Kekova
Turkey's clearest water for diving, and a Lycian city lying half under the sea.
Kaş is a small, whitewashed town with a reputation far larger than its size: visibility under water often passes 30 metres, and licensed dive centres run sites from beginner reefs to wrecks. Evenings are spent in its narrow streets, among bougainvillea and small bars.
An hour east, Kekova Island hides the remains of a Lycian town that sank in an earthquake; you see the walls and stairs through the water from the deck or the tender, as swimming over them is not allowed. Above, the castle of Simena watches over Kaleköy, a village you can only reach by boat.
