Booking & Payment Terms
Last updated: 27 October 2026
A clear summary of how a charter with Dodo Yachting works, from your first request to the day you step ashore. The charter agreement you sign is based on the MYBA standard and always prevails over this summary.
1. Who you book with
Dodo Yachting owns and operates its yacht. Your proposal, charter agreement, payments and everything on board are handled directly by us — there is no broker or intermediary in between.
2. From request to embarkation
- You send a request (the charter designer, the form, WhatsApp or email). It is free and does not commit you.
- We check availability and send a written proposal with the price and what is included. Proposals are valid for 7 days.
- If you would like time to decide, we can hold the dates as an option for 3 days.
- The booking is confirmed when both sides have signed the charter agreement and the 50% deposit has been received.
- The balance and the APA are paid 30 days before embarkation.
- About a week before you sail you receive your personal guest page with arrival details and your preference form.
3. What the price includes
The weekly price covers the yacht and her full crew. Fuel, food and drinks, marina and port fees are paid through the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance), usually about 30% of the charter fee, which the captain accounts for in full; anything not spent is refunded at the end of the charter.
VAT and any local taxes are added as stated in your proposal. A crew gratuity is customary (often 5–15% of the charter fee) and entirely at your discretion. Each yacht page lists exactly what is included and excluded.
4. Payments
- 50% of the charter fee when you sign the charter agreement.
- The remaining 50% plus the APA 30 days before embarkation.
- For bookings made less than 30 days before embarkation, the full amount and the APA are paid on signing.
- Payment is by bank transfer; other methods can be agreed in your proposal.
5. Changes
Changes to dates, number of guests or embarkation port are possible subject to availability and are confirmed in writing; they may change the price. The itinerary is planned with you, and the captain may adjust it at any time for safety, weather or local regulations.
6. If you cancel
- Cancellation must be made in writing.
- More than 30 days before embarkation: the deposit is retained.
- 30 days or less before embarkation: the full charter fee is due.
- If we are able to re-charter the yacht for the same dates, we refund what you have paid less the costs of re-chartering.
- Any unspent APA is refunded in full.
- We recommend travel and cancellation insurance.
7. Weather, breakdowns and our obligations
Bad weather is not a reason for cancellation or refund; the captain will choose sheltered routes and bays. If the yacht cannot sail because of a breakdown or another reason within our control, we refund the days lost or offer a comparable alternative, as set out in the charter agreement.
